Meet Atoya Follins | She's Empowering Overwhelmed Professionals to Live Their Life’s Purpose
My journey started with my love for fitness and wanting to see women lead healthier lives. While helping clients take control of their physical health and dial in on their nutrition, I realized that as women we had an even greater need for support in all of the many roles that we play. Many of my clients were overwhelmed professionals who were struggling to live their life’s purpose outside of their 9 to 5 and needed to find the balance between their professional and personal lives.
Meet Kendall Bunch | Award-winning Journalist and Life Coach
To get where I am today, my journey was nowhere near a straight line. I graduated from Southern University and A&M College with a Public Relations degree and no experience in news. Six months post-grad, I realized PR was not the career for me. That’s when I decided to create my own media brand to build my experience as a journalist. Within my brand, I interviewed celebrities and covered community events, but I decided I still needed an educational background in journalism to advance in my career. Therefore, I took a 4-week journalism course at New York Film Academy.
Meet Dr. Amber Jarrell | "The Tiny Human Doc’’ Who's Conquering Childhood Obesity
“I am Dr. Amber Jarrell, a pediatric resident physician. I like to refer to myself as a “Tiny Human Doc”. My main goal is to ensure my patients – infants, children, and adolescents – grow up to become healthy adults. I care deeply about keeping children happy and healthy. During medical school at Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, I developed a special interest in combating childhood obesity. Approximately one-third of children and adolescents in the United States are affected by obesity. This is a major health concern as there are several comorbidities associated with obesity. Through research and educating my patients and their families about the importance of a healthy diet and exercising, I strongly believe we can decrease the prevalence of this complex medical issue. Outside of the clinical setting, I value the importance of mentorship. I would not be where I am today without the guidance and wisdom of my professors and other physicians that invested and advocated for me. I hope to pay it forward by encouraging my community to pursue medicine as it can lead to more equitable health outcomes for those who are underserved. ”
Meet Nakiaya Dunn | EA Accountant and Momprenuer
My entrepreneurial mindset started back in elementary school; I would color pictures and sell them to my classmates. Although I've always been book smart, graduating valedictorian of my class at McKinley High School, I am truly a ‘creative’ at heart. The books led me to LSU. I now have a Bachelor’s in Accounting and I hold an IRS designation as an Enrolled Agent. The boss mentally created Prowess Financial Services, a need based business. My heart, on the other hand, is responsible for the Goodie Jar; my strong urge to make something - especially once my daughter arrived. She motivated me in ways I never knew possible. She should really be the face of Goodie Jar.
Meet Chasity "Chas" Collins | Visual Storyteller and Owner of Rise Up Productions LLC
“Growing up, I struggled with figuring out what I wanted to do in life. It wasn't until I went on an Atlanta college tour with my church in high school that I figured out I wanted to be in the fashion industry. From there, I went to school for Fashion Merchandising and loved the program. However, there were a couple of classes that really helped me realize the passion I really had within other parts of the creative industry. One class I discovered a talent of recreating items using sustainability.
