Meet Dr. Brandon White | Athletic Director & High School Boy's Basketball Coach

What’s a quote that fuels your passion?

 No Excuses, Just Results”

This quote fuels my passion because life is about results. As an adult no one cares about excuses of why you’re unable to do your job. People only care about the results!

Dr. White, your Humble Takeover is your story. Although one post could not tell your whole story, we are glad to highlight a few of your Great efforts. Tell the family where you started and how you got to where you are today.

I began teaching in 2011 as a middle school physical education teacher and coach. After serving two years in the middle school capacity, in 2013 I transitioned into high school as a physical education teacher and coach. I was an assistant coach for the Girls and Boys Basketball team at Parkview Baptist in Baton Rouge,La. In 2014 I became the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Parkview Baptist. After three awesome years at Parkview Baptist, in 2016 I was hired by Liberty Magnet High formerly known as Lee Magnet where I am currently serving as the Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach.

Which chapter in your story inspired your current venture?

One of the most influential chapters of my life that has helped me grow into the man I am today was beginning my career as a walk-on at Southern University before earning a full basketball scholarship. This chapter has formed me into who I am today because it taught me how to accept challenges, work hard, have true faith, and never give up. The principles I used to accomplish my dream of playing collegiate basketball are the same principles I use to accomplish my goals as a working professional.

What keeps you Humble through your success and failure in Life?

Life is beautiful. As humans we often take life for granted.  I have been blessed to have many positive and negative experiences in life that have shaped me into who I am today.  Through these experiences  life has taught me just as fast as you can gain success you can also lose it just as quickly.  I am able to remain humble through all of my accomplishments by reminding myself daily, you can never get too high on yourself and you can never get too low.  Life is a roller coaster that will take you on highs and lows.  Through these high and lows who you really are will show through your character.  I consider character as the most important trait an individual possesses.

What advice would you offer our family who is writing their own story?

My advice to the family is to take care of your own garden.  Plant your seeds, make sure your seeds are getting plenty of water and sunlight daily.  No matter how beautiful you think someone else's garden is, cherish and take care of your own.  One day the seeds you plant will grow into a beautiful garden of your own which will mean everything to you.  A lot of times we like to look around and compare ourselves to others by what we think they have. Each individual has the same opportunity to accomplish great things when they invest into themselves instead of worrying about others.
