Meet DeQuinten Glenn | Founder & CEO of Click Four Help, LLC, A Children's Education Company
What’s a quote that fuels your passion?
"A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.” – Malcolm X
I heard this quote as a child and it resonated with me. In life we have tons of distractions and false images placed before us so as a man I feel that I have to find something to stand for and believe in.
DeQuinten, your Humble Takeover is your story. Although one post could not tell your whole story, we are glad to highlight a few of your Great efforts. Tell the family where you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was born and raised in Mansfield, Louisiana by my grandparents Margaret and Lymas Glenn. They taught me the importance of honesty, integrity, and love for people that are less fortunate. My grandmother got her master’s in education from Southern University so education was extremely important in our household. My grandfather worked as an entrepreneur his entire adult life, after spending time in the military, so a sense of independence and pride in my blackness was also preached heavily in our household. Growing up I knew that I would do something for my people and find a way to work for myself as well.
Which chapter in your story inspired your current venture?
During my undergraduate years at LSU I spent time in the community working with K-12 students. I realized how little had changed since I was a student in the East Baton Rouge School System. I saw the brilliance in young students and witnessed the opportunities they were not afforded in addition to the impact of not having the proper outlets to express themselves. I also encountered college students that wanted to help in the community but did not know how. I created our first set of programming to bring Christmas presents to students in less fortunate schools that usually would not receive presents during the holidays. As I gained access to more classrooms our initiative grew to hosting art programs, school supply giveaways, scholarships, and more. I used my network and connections to employ students and enrich the lives of as many students as possible. This chapter in my story led me to develop my non- profit company, Click Four Help,
At Click Four Help we aid students of all ages academically and collaboratively through our holistic programming style. We provide students across the country with a simplistic way to find tutors that specialize in a wide variety of subjects. We help students pursue excellence and cultivate pathways to success.
What keeps you Humble through your success and failure in Life?
Staying humble was something that was preached in my household as a child. Through life I learned that no matter what I have accomplished things could change instantly. I learned through personal experience being humble and appreciating every situation individually goes further than any other action. In success I have learned to count my blessings and focus more on how to take mental notes of how to get back to that point. In failure I analyze the situation for the things I cannot control and try not to dwell on them. Humility in both wins and losses can be critical to continued success in my opinion.
What advice would you offer our family who is writing their own story?
Never give up on your journey. If there is something you truly want in life make your plan and go after it. Success is not a straight line to the top there are twists and turns but that is what makes the victory that much sweeter.
Do you have any upcoming events or projects you would like to share?
In May, Click Four Help will be giving away weekly scholarships for high school students.
We’d love to hear more stories, please suggest 5 other persons writing their own story and Conquering the World.
