Meet Christopher King, Esq. | Lawyer, Artist, and Fitness Trainer

What’s a quote that fuels your passion?         

                                                                                                                                     I came up with a motto or a principle that I strive to live by.This original quote does not only fuels my passions but is a quote that I live by each and everyday.  "Each day I must find a way to progress forward, mentally, physically, emotionally and especially spiritually. If I can dedicate each day to accomplishing this then I will surely do and become everything that God has created me to become in this life."

 

Christopher, your Humble Takeover is your story. Although one post could not tell your whole story, we are glad to highlight a few of your Great efforts. Tell the family where you started and how you got to where you are today. 

   Honestly, my journey has been different than most. I am originally from New Orleans, Louisiana and attended St. Augustine High School but I  graduated from Zachary High School due to Hurricane Katrina. After high school, I was blessed to earn an academic and football scholarship to Henderson State University in Arkansas, where I pledged Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc, led my team in interceptions and two conference championships and earned a degree in business finance amongst other things. Next, I attended and graduated from The Southern University Law Center in 2019 and passed the Louisiana Bar Exam on the first attempt in 2020.  

   Through each of these events there were many challenges, mentally, physically, emotionally and especially spiritually. God has kept, protected and guided me throughout my whole journey even when I put myself in unfavorable situations. How did I get to where I am today? Simply by the Grace of God. I say this all of the time, "My superpower is the Holy Spirit." I consider myself to be a slightly above average human being, nevertheless God has decided to do some phenomenal things through me. Simply put, I know where my strength comes from: from being a virgin at 27 years old, to pledging, to playing college football, to attending law school and passing one of the more difficult Bar Exams in the nation on my first attempt. Each and every one of the steps that I have taken have been ordered by God. Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.”

 

Which chapter in your story inspired your current venture?

I would say that every chapter in my story inspired me to do what I am currently doing. I had no clue or  intention of being a prosecutor. When I look back at my journey I realize that I have been learning skills and developing myself to do exactly what I am doing right now. From training for the NFL, to coaching, to law school, to passing the Bar Exam, each of these challenges have prepared me to be successful at my current venture without even being aware of it. 

 

What keeps you Humble through your success and failure in Life? 

Philippians 4:12-13 says, "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. I think it is the fact that I know who I am without God and I know who I am with Him and that keeps me humble through everything. For a long time now I understand the statement that "It is NOT all about you." Which is not the most easy pill to swallow, nevertheless it is extremely true. Everything that I have gone through in my life, whether good, bad, or terrible, I understand that it was meant for me to grow in my dependence on God and to help someone else in their journey. 


What advice would you offer our family who is writing their own story? 

Take your time. The honest truth is that you will always be writing your story. Life is a collection of moments that we have to be 100% present in. I spent many moments worried and concerned with the next moment or what will happen next. Now I am trying my best to just be in the moment and enjoy it fully. The time and season that you are hoping and anticipating for will come, in due time, but we have to enjoy the process and the present moment that we are blessed with. If you can do that then your appreciation for the small moments as well as the big moments will be unmatched, ultimately writing a phenomenal story.

 

Do you have any upcoming events or projects you would like to share? 

I am working to: be the best prosecutor I can be, continue to develop my art business, train clients, make a difference in the lives of the people that God has surrounded me with and be the best example or representation of Jesus Christ that I can possibly be.
