Ayanna, your Humble Takeover is your story. Although one post could not tell your whole story, we are glad to highlight a few of your Great efforts. Tell the family where you started and how you got to where you are today.
My passion for the art of hair began in my youthful days of doll playing and doing my friends’ hair for the high school football games which evolved into my passion and career. I am so grateful to God that I made it to the intersection of life where purpose, passion, career and service meet and I can turn my childhood love for hair into a career. Grateful, is all I can say!
Which chapter in your story inspired your current venture?
My journey began in 2017 as a Paul Mitchell graduate and an officially licensed cosmetologist. The journey from dream to business owner has not always been easy and It still has its many challenges but I have the opportunity to learn something new every day. There have been times when doubt has crept in or I have failed at something but it is those times that I have relied on my faith and solid foundation in God. I reflect that God did not bring me this far to leave me and I continue to press my way.
In the four years of operating Hairology of BR, I have had the opportunity to establish a clientele that runs the gambit of all age groups, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Hairology of BR is a trendy cosmopolitan Salon located in Baton Rouge, LA. I genuinely love my clients and appreciate them for their love and support, especially through my early formative years as a new entrepreneur. With the support of my clients and my village, I have expanded my company to a full service salon.
What keeps you Humble through your success and failure in Life?
God keeps me humble. Being a salon owner still feels so surreal at times, it literally gives me chills. I never planned or intended on taking on all the responsibilities that came with operating a successful salon, but God! I never planned on having my friends and colleagues operating businesses in the Hairology of BR location, but God! I never planned on having my own product line and a group of wonderful women that entrust their hair care to my humble hands, but God!
What advice would you offer our family who is writing their own story?
My sound advice to anyone wanting to get on the path of purpose filled work is: step out on faith, do what you love, lean and depend on God, stay humble, and never give up. What God has for you is for you!
